Hummingbirds in Slow Motion

I’ve seen beautiful hummingbirds while out here in California.  So, here’s a great video of hummingbirds, all shot in slow motion, taken in Santa Clarita, California.

Hummingbirds are so impressively agile, they are a real treat to see!  They fly quickly in your field of view, and then (usually) quickly fly out again….

A Wolverine in Yellowstone

There are about 250 to 300 wolverines left in the lower 48 states of the United States, so catching one on camera in Yellowstone National Park is a rare and exciting event.

Conservationists have been studying and tracking wolverines in Yellowstone for over 8 years.  Through remote cameras images like this, they have gained a better understanding of wolverines, which in turn will help inform conservation strategies.

The Strawberry Leopard

A first for science, this Strawberry Leopard- so named for its strawberry-colored fur, has been photographed in South Africa’s Madikwe Game Reserve.

Biologists suspect the pale leopard has erythrism, a little-understood genetic condition that’s thought to cause an overproduction of red pigments.  The strawberry leopard seems healthy and likely suffers no ill consequences from his pinkish hue, after all, the leopard’s coat still offers him some camouflage.
