Dog Rescues Dog

A very brave Labrador leapt at the chance to be a hero, when two dogs standing in a canoe got swept away in the current of a river.

The black lab was able to pull the vessel back to shore, what an amazing dog!

At the Edinburgh Zoo, in Scotland, their Oriental small-clawed otters welcomed a litter of five(!) new adorable baby otters to the raft in July this year.  Now, the pups have started venturing out and about in their enclosure, under the watchful eyes of their older sisters, Eliza and Aisha, and their protective parents, Elena and Ray. Keepers have sexed the quintuplets as three females and two males, who have yet to be named.

Happy Ottersday ^_^

The World’s Smallest Primate

On Bohol Island, in The Philippines, lives the world’s smallest primate, called the tarsier.  They are small animals with enormous eyes; each eyeball is approximately 16 mm in diameter and is as large as its entire brain! Tarsiers also have very long hind limbs, due mostly to the extremely elongated tarsusbones of the feet, from which the animals get their name.

They love to eat grubs, too!

Happy Monkday 8-)

Politics & Animals

The US Presidential Debate is happening right now, at my Alma Mater, the University of Denver.  It’s been a hot topic all week here in Denver, and we Denverites couldn’t be prouder to host such a prestigious event.

So, here’s an old-timey picture of a donkey and a elephant.  Enjoy.

…. go donkeys ;-)
