No Need to Flee From the Manatee

Now, I don’t usually post videos of people in distress, but this girl really has little to worry about from swimming next to a tranquil manatee. Yes, they’re huge, but they’re sea cows, slowly meandering through watery homes, eating lettuce with their whiskered mouths. This is why I feel okay, laughing hysterically at this poor girl, who doesn’t realize how much in danger she isn’t in.

You go and you prosper, you awesome manatee.

Valentines Day with Hamsters

Valentine’s Day is here, a day to celebrate love with flowers, kisses, and cute things. This year, the Interweb’s favorite tiny hamsters are back with a tiny Valentines Day date that is as squeetastic as it is comical, considering the very unceremonious manner in which hamsters eat.

First they take a tiny gondola ride around a tiny canal in a tiny town, then take their tiny seats at a tiny table where they are served tiny courses. There are flowers (of course, they eat them) and a pasta with red quinoa meatball entree that puts that “Lady and the Tramp” scene to shame. Enjoy!

Waltz of the Furries

It’s been twelve days since my last post.  I’m getting more and more comfortable living here in Maryland, especially with my roommates, who are becoming more like family everyday.  Here to demonstrate, are a kitteh, a doggeh, and a monkeh, who are just about the best of friends.  What Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers has to do with them… I’m not sure, I just know that I like it. ^_^

Happy Monkday :_)

Crazy Times

It’s been ten days since my last blog post. So much is changing and happening. I’ve changed jobs, and have been/will be traveling much more, and I”ll be moving too. Phew! Life is crazy. How crazy is it? Crazy as a rabbit crushing soda cans… with his tongue sticking out.

Benedict Otterbatch

An otter at the Tennessee Aquarium has been named “Benny,” after actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The likeness is truly undeniable, and this is quite possibly, the cutest thing, I have ever seen. ^_^

The Chattanooga aquarium made the otter-Cumberbatch connection official, after their Facebook invitation to name seven otters resulted in an overwhelming popular vote for Benedict. The Chattanooga outfit asked Facebook for possible names for the critter, who lives in their new River Otter Falls habitat, and several commenters instantly suggested Benedict, for reasons that will be obvious to anyone who’s spent time watching Sherlock and geek-outing in the Tumblrs of the interwebs.

Needless to say, the aquarium quickly made it official. Benny has been living at the aquarium for several months now, enjoying the limelight with his adorable otter family.

Happy Ottersday :#)
